Welcome to Orienteering NSW

Orienteering is a sport that challenges both the body and the mind. It's also loads of fun!

The aim is to use a special orienteering map to navigate your way around a course and visit marked check points along the way. You choose a course that suits your age and experience and proceed at your own pace: walk, jog or run. It is a race but you decide if you want to just race yourself or be the next world champion! The course may take you through urban areas, parks, schools, farmland or forests.

Events are conducted weekly across NSW and beginners are welcome at all events.

Want to enter an event? You can see what's on by looking at the Coming Events at left or by going to the Event Calendar. Some events are enter on the day - you just turn up and register at the start. Other events require pre-entry and for that you need to know about (and register with) Eventor - read the Eventor FAQ.

NSW Sprint Champs entries open

Entries are now open for the NSW Sprint Champs on the intricate UNSW map on Sunday July 29.

This is the biggest sprint event in NSW for 2018 and on one of the best maps in the state, fit and rested after a couple of years off.

The Eventor page has preliminary information and a copy of the map. Free parking is available inside the uni.

Jamie Kennedy is setting courses expected to be fast and challenging; controls will be SI Air-enabled. Don't forget that double OY points are on offer with it being a state championship.

Although we are in the bush season, you can get some Sprint practice in by attending the Newcastle Shorts on July 14-15 or the SOS event at Pennant Hills HS on Sat July 28.

Meanwhile, entries for State Leagues 10-11 in the Southern Highlands (on July 7-8) have been extended to this Friday, June 29.
